Our founders,
Cat and Leah are registered nurses with many years of experience in bedside care, case management, and administrative roles in healthcare.
They believe that all people deserve to know their individualized options when making life decisions about wellness, healthcare, and deathcare and believe that education should be easy to understand and accessible.
Cat and Leah embarked on this journey to help others identify what they didn’t know or understand and fill the knowledge gaps.
Armed with tenacity, a fire for teaching others, and mutual love and respect for all, Empowered Choices was born to serve the local communities we are part of and be a guiding light.
I have witnessed far too many family members, friends, and colleagues feeling confused, lost, and unsupported when faced with critical healthcare, sick care, or end of life decisions. It should not be this way- and it is not acceptable. My mission is to educate while supporting and facilitating client’s personal goals, reminding that no one walks their path alone.
As a nurse by training and practitioner in death work, I am a firm believer that “healthcare” is more- more than what is routine, more than easy. We are not all the same, and our healthcare should not be either! I offer a unique blend of medical literacy and holistic support, rooted in one core principle: your goals, your autonomy.
I believe deeply in a client’s right to make informed choices about their body, alternative treatments, holistic living, and death care. I empower clients with knowledge through compassionate guidance and advocacy, so every client can make their choice.
Leah Bayona, RN, CCM
With a foundation in registered nursing and specialized training in death work, I bridge the gap between the clinical healthcare system and the human need for holistic wellness. While my background includes end of life care, hospice, and palliative knowledge, my true passion lies in advocacy and autonomy.
I help individuals navigate a healthcare system that is not always designed for personal wellness. I guide clients through the difficult but necessary conversations about end-of-life planning. My practice is rooted in the belief that every person has the right to bodily autonomy and the freedom to define what their journey looks like.
Whether you need help understanding your options, finding alternative therapies, or simply need a partner to ensure your decisions are honored, I am here to offer advocacy, support, guidance, and clarity.
